*Fierce Elegy* Gizzi's Older Brother

a brief & ancient review of Michael Gizzi

There has been a lot of poetickal attention, on both sides of the Batlantic, to American poet Peter Gizzi’s TS Eliot Prize-winning book, Fierce Elegy. And since the Elegy in question refers, in part at least, to his older brother Michael Gizzi, also a very extraordinary poet (and long acquaintance and former classmate of mine, in Rhode Island), I thought I would post a link to this brief review of Michael Gizzi’s book, Avis [Burning Deck Press, 1979], first published in the East Side Monthly (Providence), in 1979.
